Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian artist and singer. There are more than 20 albums that have been released by her. The songs of DiFranco are classified as alternative and folk. However, they also are influenced by hip-hop music, jazz and punk. Ani Difranco is widely recognized as an icon of music that is feminist. In the year 1990 she was one of the first artists to create her own independent record label. DiFranco was born on the 23rd of September 1970 in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father was of Italian origin and her mother came originally from Montreal. 32 Flavors was a track composed and performed by Ani DiFranco. The song is from her album from 1995 Not a Pretty Girl, that was her sixth studio release. One version of this song can be heard in the film Canadian romantic film Better Than Chocolate. In 2013, DiFranco apologized after it was revealed that she would be hosting a three-day workshop on the former Louisiana plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, but many (including the author of this article) didn't detect remorse. DiFranco released a second apology just a few days later than the initial. While she's been referred to as the Little Folksinger her music has embraced many kinds of genres and collaborates from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince. New Orleans is her home. Ani diFranco and Kristen Ford are together. She began writing songs around the age of 14. She performed them in caf s and bars through her teenage years. DiFranco began taking classes in Buffalo State College at age 16 following her graduation from Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts.
