Silk was born Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the mother of Peter, a teacher and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna is awed by her mother's job and attending play rehearsals. Silk was a small girl in numerous commercials. Silk graduated from St. Thomas University with the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1997. The early stage work she did has included at least two productions with Theatre St. Thomas: Seven Menus and The Kitchen. Silk moved from Toronto in November 1999 in the month of November 1999 to Los Angeles during the next decade. Seth Cooperman became her husband in 2007 when they met during an Actors' Workshop at Los Angeles. They were engaged in 2009 and were wed in a civil ceremony ceremony that took place in December. The couple reaffirmed their vows April 10, 2011 at Fredericton during a Jewish ceremony following her conversion to a Jew.
